Climbers use the ‘canyon’ route as an exit, without wetsuits in warm conditions. Quite a scenic valley in the upper parts, with all the volcanic plugs and crags. However, its a pretty long hike for not much canyoning, but would be good as a combo with climbing at the crag, which is apparently pretty good…

Check out the access information on the ClimbNZ website, and cCheck with climbing/canyoning community as to the state of access before turning up.. Things often change. Correct as at time of writing!
