Some big pitches, with hanging re-belays in a beautiful greywacke canyon.

All parties visiting this canyon should bring a drill, bolts and the knowledge to upgrade the anchors present.  Log any maintenance as a trip report so we can bring this great canyon up to the best possible anchor standards 🙂

    Canterbury CanyonSAR team helicopter training exercise. Started from high up the valley descending 2 new pitches in upper reaches. Several anchors were upgraded throughout the canyon.

    • Date -23/3/2025
    • Water level -lower than normal
    • Anchor conditions -we did some repairs
    • Group size -7
    • Time: approach/descent/return (eg: 1hr/4hrs/3mins) -Flew in/6/Flew out
